I came to the idea of composing this set of studies because I wanted to add some modern sounding pieces to educational guitar repertoire.

I also wanted to keep them simple, yet interesting for young people.

Minimal style is great for both tasks. Although the style here is not entirely minimal. Some of the studies are more rhythmical and repetitive, some are more neo-calssical and nostalgic in character.

This album is a unique set of transcriptions for guitar. Each of these beautiful compositions (originally intended for harpsichord, violin or piano) represent various epochs and musical styles. From early baroque to 20th century and from style brisé to modernism. It is the form of prelude that holds this unusual fellowship together. One can say that the album is actually some kind of suite. Suite of preludes.
